Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Chapter 8: Requirements Modeling—A Recommended Approach.

Requirements modeling allows software engineers and designers to first visualize a system as it is (or how it should be), which then allows them to specify the structure or behavior of a system. For this discussion forum, you will be focusing on requirements analysis that results in the specification of software’s operational characteristics, indicates software’s interface with other system elements, and establishes constraints that software must meet. Requirements analysis allows you to elaborate on basic requirements established during the inception, elicitation, and negotiation tasks that are part of requirements engineering.

In your initial post, review Chapter 8 of your textbook to describe the four elements of software requirements. Why is each one important? How they do they differ? Give a workplace example of how each might be used. Refer to the Compare and Contrast Assignments (Links to an external site.) from the Ashford Writing Center for tips on how to have a conversation around differences in the four elements.

Use at least one Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources (Links to an external site.) from the Ashford University Library or elsewhere to help formulate your initial discussion post. Cite your source in APA format as outlined by Citing Within Your Paper (Links to an external site.). Your initial post must be a minimum of 300 words.
