A typical floor plan and elevation of a four-storied building is
shown in figures 1 and 2. The building will be constructed with
reinforced concrete element using systems one-way ribbed and
solid slabs-beam column construction of cross-section shown in
figure below.
.Design Data:
fc′ = 30 MPa
fy= 300 MPa
Wall load = 10 kN/m
Floor finish etc. = 1.9 kN/m2
Live load = 2.5 kN/ m2
Live load of roof = 1.92 kN/ m2
Allowable soil bearing pressure = 170 kN/ m2
Load combinations as pre ACI-318-14.
The width of all columns = 250 mm
Concrete density = 23 kN/m3
The . following tasks should be completed:
(a)Preform an analysis and design of 3D space frame using STAAD
Pro.
(b)Design by hand calculation the ribbed slab, a typical beam and
column showing details of reinforcement.
(c)Design by hand calculation one isolated footing showing details of
reinforcement, use only the axial loads (ignoring the moment).
(d) Submit a well written report with introduction and the details of the
analysis and design.

Hint: DL for ribbed slab:
No. of rib / m2= 1/0.5 = 2 ribs
No. of blocks / m2 = 2*5 = 10
Weight of ribs/ m2 = 2 * 0.1* 0.2*24=
= 0.96 kN/ m2
Weight of blocks/ m2 = 10 * 12 *9.81/1000=
= 1.2 kN/ m2
Weight of toping slab/ m2 = 0.07 * 24
= 1.68 kN/ m2
Own weight of ribbed slab = 0.96+1.2+1.68
= 3.84 kN/m2
Total Dead load on slab = 3.84 + floor finish = 3.84 + 1.9 = 5.74 kN/m2
